Two doctors from Makati Medical Center promoted water birth services and heart failure surgery procedures at the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Inc. (AmCham)
The talks, organized by MakatiMed in coordination with the Healthcare, Wellness, and Pharmaceutical Committee of AmCham Philippines were held on April 24 at the AmCham Hall in Makati City.
Martin P. Manahan, MD, of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology gave a talk on “Water Babies”, which introduced attendees to water birth, an alternative natural birthing method, and the newly opened Water Immersion Facility for Labor and Delivery at MakatiMed.
Ramon I. Diaz, Jr., MD, Head of the Section of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery under the Department of Surgery, presented “Heart Failure Surgery: What We Can Do Now in the Philippines”, where he discussed heart failure and the treatment options Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) and Left Ventricle Assist Device (LVAD).
AmCham was founded in 1902, first as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.
