Three doctors from Makati Medical Center gave health talks at the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines, Inc.
The talks, organized by MakatiMed in coordination with the Healthcare, Wellness, and Pharmaceutical Committee of AmCham Philippines and the US Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC) were held on February 7 and February 16, respectively, at AmCham Hall in Makati City.
Rey R. Ponteras, MD, Clinical Manager of the MMC HealthHub, presented “Focus is on You”, which walked participants through tips with scientific basis on how to live healthily using the guidelines set by the American Heart Association.
Madalinee Eternity D. Labio, MD, Head of the recently launched Liver Unit (see article on Page 1), presented “Protect Yourself from the Silent Killers: Care for Your Liver – The Other Vital Organ”, where she discussed relevant statistics in the liver’s functions and vulnerabilities, and how to protect this vital organ from damage.
Ma. Tarcela S. Gler, MD, Head of MakatiMed’s HIV Core Team, discussed the growing number of HIV-positive individuals in the country in “HIV Pandemic in the Philippines”, a talk organized by OSAC on February 16.
AmCham was founded in 1902, first as the Manila Coffee Round Table and later as Manila Merchants Association. Incorporated in 1920, it has since then recognized and reconfirmed the commitment of American business to the development and welfare of the Philippines and the Filipino people.
OSAC was created in 1985 under the US Federal Advisory Committee Act to promote security cooperation between American private sector interests worldwide and the US Department of State.
