Executives and hospital staff from Adventist Hospital Palawan (AHP), a Strategic Hospital Alliance Program (SHAP) partner since March 2011, visited Makati Medical Center on January 23 for a benchmarking activity, and to see the services MakatiMed provides to the patients they refer for treatment.
The AHP team, who flew in from Puerto Princesa, Palawan, was composed of Arnie Estrobo, MD, COO; Mary Joy Sumiller, CFO; Nior Santillan, Quality Management Representative; Ronie Fiedacan, Human Resources Director; Leo Neil Orqueza, Comptroller; Girlie Miranda, Chief Accountant; Levi Velasco, Laboratory, Chief Medical Technologist; Eileen Calino, RRT, CRT, Chief Radiologic Technician; Ludibon Golingay, RN, Head, Emergency Room; Randy Salavante, RN, Head, Operating Room; Ariel Will Durante, RN, Head, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; Melogin Regencia, RN, Nurse Supervisor; Christy Melanie Gonzales, Medical Records Officer; Rachel Dulce Mapusao, Head, Laundry & Linen; Rachel Alvinda, Head, Center Sterile Supply; Charney Valdez, Chief Security and Rodulfo Calino, Maintenance Supervisor.
Participants were divided into three groups to maximize their half-day session. Bron Jay Villamor, SHAP Coordinator; Shieyl Aranas, Department Manager for Promotions, Communications and Special Projects; Maryann Lee, Department Manager for Sales Services; and representatives from the Nursing Services Division (Danica Alcantara, RN; Rachelle Ramayla, RN; Rithelle Galang, RN; Adrian Brillantes, RN and Alex Sangoyo, RN) accompanied the participants on separate tours around the hospital. Among the departments visited were the Emergency Department, Radiology, Pathology and Laboratories, Kidney Unit, Cellular Therapeutics Center, Central Stores for Medical Supplies, Medical Records, MakatiMed’s Security base, and the Linen section.
Representatives from different MakatiMed presented the rules regarding iHIMS (integrated hospital information management) safety compliance, as well as the policies and regulations for the Admission Department, Patient Information System, Billing and Finance, and Human Resources to the AHP top management at the Tower 3 Board Room.
AHP asked questions regarding the standard of care, quality and safety that led to MakatiMed’s re-accreditation by the Joint Commission International. Kristine Javier, RN, Unit Manager, Kidney Unit, and Maribeth Mendoza, RN, Clinical Department Manager, answered the questions in detail.
