Makati Medical Center and Stanford Hospital and Clinics, in cooperation with the Philippine Headache Society and Philippine Neurological Association Headache Council, held the 120th Interactive Teleconference with Stanford Hospital on September 25 at the Medical Education and Research Division Training Room.
Robert P. Cohan, MD, Director of the Division of Headache and Professor of Neurology at Stanford University Medical Center, discussed “The Role of Technology in the Diagnosis and Management of Headache”.
“In many ways, we still practice clinical medicine as we did in the time of Hippocrates,” Dr. Cohan said. “Patients still line up to speak with the local physician who draws on his or her fund of knowledge and available testing to diagnose and treat the patient. But today, the fund of knowledge cannot be contained in a single physician’s experience and the resources for diagnosis and delivery of healthcare extend well beyond the resources currently utilized by most physicians. The result is that it is much more difficult for physicians to provide optimal care in a timely fashion.”
The talk focused on the easily accessible resources in headache medicine for diagnosis, documentation, communication, medication delivery, compliance, and monitoring.
Regina Macalintal-Canlas, MD, Chairperson of the Department of Neurosciences, served as moderator.
