MakatiMed inaugurates MMC HealthHub

Makati Medical Center inaugurated the MMC HealthHub, the focal point for premium healthcare screening and management offering medical packages tailored-fit to a patient’s age, gender, lifestyle and health issues. 

The MMC HealthHub is a consolidation of two centers—Corporate Health & Wellness and Executive Check Up Centers—now located at the 1st Floors of Towers 1 and 2. Both locations were inaugurated on April 15.

The event was attended by representatives from top MakatiMed corporate accounts, top accredited health maintenance organizations (HMOs), and MakatiMed executives, consultants and hospital staff

The inauguration was followed by a short program at the 8th Floor Tower 2 Auditorium.

Dr. Sinon welcomed the guests and expressed his pride about the revamp of the center. “We are proud to show you our newly improved image and facilities,” he said.

“What we are after is patient experience,” she said, adding that the new center underwent several improvements such as rebranding, image enhancement of the staff, process improvement, new packages and staff re-training. These were benchmarked against international healthcare practices, guided by international standards and MakatiMed’s commitment to total patient satisfaction.

“In the international landscape, complete, comprehensive services are offered in one center, with efficient services and visually appealing design, cozy ambiance, and a comfortable waiting area. Some, not all, also offer online scheduling.”

The new MMC HealthHub offers this and more, she said.    

The packages were also remodeled to fit the changing health and lifestyle needs of patients. All patients begin with the Health Investment Essentials, a basic package that includes a physical examination, complete blood count, urinalysis, fecalysis, and chest X-ray. Specific health packages or riders can be added to the basic package to give a patient a complete and clearer picture of his or her health profile. Post-menopausal women, for instance, can choose from a roster of Female Rider procedures, while diabetics can include tests from the Diabetes Rider. There are also riders specific for males and teenagers, a total health screening package for those who want to have everything checked, and health screenings focused on the heart and abdomen.

For those who do not want to create a screening plan, the HealthHub offers pre-designed packages.

The inpatient MMC HealthHub, known as MMC HealthHub Premier located at the 1st Floor of Tower 2, is situated on 505.63 square meters with 14 new inpatient rooms (Large Private) dedicated to this service. Now, every patient is assigned an Executive Liaison Officer (LO) to personally guide him or her through every step of the pre-planned patient’s medical itinerary.

“Every Executive Liaison Officer is equipped with an electronic tablet, which contains all of the patient’s procedures for the day. This allows the LO to manage the itinerary on the spot, in case there are unexpected delays or unforeseen events, and ensure that the patient’s HealthHub experience is seamless.”

Results are available five days after all procedures and tests are completed.
  
The outpatient MMC HealthHub, located on the same floor in Tower 1, has a floor area of 219 square meters and caters to embassies, Overseas Filipino Workers, walk-in patients, and other patients who require non-emergency consultations.
 
“The MMC HealthHub has an in-house general practitioner, Dr. Rey Ponteras, who is MakatiMed’s first employee doctor,” she said. “He is the point person for all medical concerns and can refer you to a specialist, if you need one.”

Patients can relax in between procedures and spend time at the HealthHub Lounge. The Lounge offers free Wi-Fi access and healthy food and beverages.

“Almost every service or product is now customizable, or selections are now menu-driven. We see this in telecommunications, insurance, and now, in healthcare. We also see a paradigm shift in medicine, with patients now participating in the decision-making process and playing an active role in safeguarding their health. We recognize that every individual has his or her own reasons for undergoing medical screening, and even though most people hate going to the hospital and being poked and prodded, there is still that expectation of comfort, compassion and high level of service. These considerations guided us in our revamp,” he said.

He added that the MMC HealthHub services and facilities are at par with those provided by hospitals in Asia, US and Europe. 

“Of course, our own brand of malasakit distinguishes us from the competition,” he said. 

In her closing remarks, Marielle M. Rubio, Service Operations Division Head, referred to the MMC HealthHub as a “lifehub”. 

“We want just not to the treat the sick, but also to guide and assist in sickness prevention. We offer not just a modern, well-equipped hospital with the best doctors but a lifehub that provides excellent medical service in a caring environment,” she said.

The MMC HealthHub inauguration was followed by a short program at the 8th Floor Tower 2 Auditorium attended by MakatiMed top executives, consultants, hospital staff, and representatives from MakatiMed corporate accounts, Strategic Hospital Alliance Program partner hospitals, and accredited health maintenance organizations.
