Preoperative Anesthesia Evaluation is a risk assessment performed by an Anesthesiologist to determine the patient’s health condition. It relieves patient anxiety, improves patient safety, decreases cancellation rates of surgery, and decreases bed days of the patient. For inpatients, Preoperative Anesthesia Evaluation is done by the Anesthesiologist in the patient’s hospital room; while for outpatients, the Surgeon or Attending Medical Doctor refers the patient to the Clinic for Anesthesia Preoperative Evaluation (CAPE) for walk-in evaluation or telephone consultation.
