Rheumatology is a specialty that deals with the diagnosis and medical management of diseases that affect the bones, muscles, joints, connective tissues, and other soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system. These include gout, osteoarthritis, tendinitis, osteoporosis, and other related conditions. Aside from these, rheumatologists also manage disorders of autoimmunity such as rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, vasculitis, myositis, scleroderma, and other systemic inflammatory diseases.
