Makati Medical Center, in partnership with Central Luzon Doctors’ Hospital through the Strategic Hospital Alliance Program (SHAP), held the “Organ Transplant & Donation Roadshow” on April 18 in San Vicente, Tarlac.
The free symposium, featuring talks from MakatiMed’s top experts in organ donation and transplant, was initiated to support the Organ Donation Program of MakatiMed, and to further strengthen the SHAP hospital network for possible organ referrals.
Attended by doctors and nurses, it is the second in a series of events hosted by SHAP in partnership with different SHAP hospital partners. The first program was held in partnership with Lucena United Doctors Hospital and Medical Center.
The attendees and speakers were welcomed by Ferdinand Francis Ma. DL Cid, MD, President & CEO, Central Luzon Doctors’ Hospital, and introduced by Arlyn L. Songco, Vice President/Division Head of MakatiMed’s Marketing & Sales Services Division.
Featured in the program were Arlene B. Lamban, MD, FPCP, FPSN, Head of Transplant Nephrology (“Burden of CKD/ESRD (Chronic Kidney Disease/End-Stage Renal Disease) and Treatment Options”); Perry N. Noble, MD, Neurologist (“Concept of Brain Death”); Adolfo Parayno, MD, Transplant & Vascular Surgeon (“Deceased Organ Donation”); and Leo Carlo Baloloy, MD, Peripheral Vascular Surgeon (“Future Direction of MakatiMed” and “How to Organize an Organ Procurement Organization (OPO), role of creating a network”).
The lectures were followed by a Q&A and closing remarks were delivered by Dante P. Dator, MD MakatiMed’s Director of Professional Services.
