The Makati Medical Center Department of Medicine achieved 100% passing rate in the Philippines Specialty Board for Internal Medicine (PSBIM) for the fifth year in a row.
The PSBIM was held on March 5, 2017. The 12 recent graduates in addition to two previous graduates were first-time board takers.
The 14 board passers were Faye Karissa Bautista, MD; Jean Rachel Catapia, MD; Chadwick Chacon, MD; Annie May Dela Cruz, MD; Arginino Dorado, MD; Cassandra Camille Elazegui, MD; Ana Monica Estrella, MD; Daphne Gayle Galang, MD; Aprille Kirsten Ilustre, MD; Lauren Angelica Labrador, MD; Rosario Soledad Neri, MD; Maria Andrea Vergara, MD; Sixto Ramon Marella, MD; and Arnel Romano, MD.
“It is not an easy task to train the residents on the most demanding specialty in medicine, but the department is determined to give them the best training we could in the pursuit for excellence and be considered as one of the best training ground in Internal Medicine, says Noel L. Rosas, MD, Chairman of the Department of Medicine. “It is the legacy that the current set of trainers would like to leave to the department and the institution. Indeed, a structured program with established set of standards would really bring good results and we have already seen that through the years.”
The PSBIM is administered annually by the Philippine College of Physicians (PCP) to certify the competence of doctors to practice Internal Medicine. They will be inducted as diplomates in Internal Medicine in the forthcoming annual convention of the Philippine College of Physicians. These successful examinees may pursue further subspecialty training offered by the Department of Medicine, or practice General Medicine.
The MakatiMed Department of Medicine was also granted good standing by the PCP in its latest accreditation in 2016.
