The Makati Medical Center Health Services Department (HSD) Hall at Tower 3 has been named the Dr. Raul G. Fores Hall, in honor of one of MakatiMed’s founders.
The inauguration and unveiling of the dedication plaque was held on December 8 at the 2nd Floor of Tower 3. In attendance were the family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Fores, with MakatiMed Directors Judy Araneta-Roxas and Jose Amado A. Fores. The inauguration was bestowed by the management of MakatiMed Health Service Department.
The plaque read: “Dr. Raul G. Fores, in celebration of his steadfast commitment and dedicated service to the healing of the poor and underprivileged, aligned with MakatiMed’s guiding principle envisaged by the founders as ‘The Hospital with a Heart,’ Dr. Fores and the MakatiMed HSD medical community draw inspiration from the charitable work of St. Teresa of Calcutta. In solidarity, the Dr. Raul G. Fores Hall is dedicated to St. Teresa of Calcutta on this day, 8th of December 2016 at the Makati Medical Center, 2nd Floor of Tower 3 (Keyland Centre) Makati City, Philippines.”
Dr. Fores attended to charity patients, including the wards of Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity, for the longest time. “Based in Tondo and Binondo, the mission of the Missionaries of Charity includes searching for the underprivileged, the homeless, the hungry and the forgotten, the poorest of the poor. The sick among them, those who cannot afford even a tablet of aspirin, are taken to their centers or to hospitals. The seriously ill and those with rare and complicated diseases are brought to Makati Medical Center, which wholeheartedly cater to their needs.” (Read related article: “St. Teresa of Calcutta, Dr. Raul G. In 1969, Dr. Fores was the youngest member of the MakatiMed founders’ circle. Within five years, he took over the reins as MakatiMed President, CEO, and Medical Director. During his term, he ran a slogan contest where “The Hospital with a Heart” was picked as the official expression for the hospital’s guiding principle. He shares the founding group’s commitment to provide medical assistance to the underprivileged.
