Makati Medical Center has announced the appointment of Johnny B. Sinon, MD as its new medical director for a fixed term of three years effective June 1, 2016.
In a memorandum circulated on April 15 to all employees, medical and house staff, and members of the Board of Directors, President & CEO Rosalie R. Montenegro said Dr. Sinon’s appointment was approved by the hospital’s Board of Directors in its meeting on April 11.
Dr. Johnny Sinon takes over from Dr. Benjamin N. Alimurung, who has served as medical director for nine and half years since 2007.
“On behalf of the MDI Board, we would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Alimurung for the contributions he has made to MMC over these years. We wish him every success as he moves on to the next chapter of his professional career,” Ms. Montenegro said.
Dr. Sinon has been with MakatiMed for the past 28 years and brings with him a wealth of clinical experience in Emergency Medicine, as well as important corporate management exposure in his capacity as Medical Director of International SOS (Phils) Inc., a global medical and travel security assistance organization operating in 93 countries with 850 locations. Additionally, he is the incumbent President of the Medical Staff Association (MSA) and also heads the MakatiMed HealthHub. Dr. Sinon has held several other key positions in MakatiMed such as Chairman of Emergency Medicine and Head of the Emergency Department from October 1, 2008 to September 30, 2014.
Ms. Montenegro said Dr. Sinon will serve as medical director on a full-time basis given the heavy demands of the position.
“Importantly, one of Dr. Sinon’s top priorities as Medical Director is to closely support the President & CEO and contribute to charting the 2016-2018 strategic plan of MMC to ensure the growth and expansion of the hospital and retain its leadership in the Philippine healthcare industry,” she said.
