Makati Medical Center’s Quality Management Division (QMD) participated in the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare on September 26 to 28 at the Suntec Convention Center in Singapore.
Pilar Baltasar, Division Head, QMD, and Mary Grace Sta. Ana, DMD, MBAH, QMD-Clinical Safety and Risk Management Department, joined over 1,200 healthcare professionals from 39 countries at the international event.
This forum was jointly organized by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) and British Medical Journal (BMJ). Both are recognized institutions which provide a wide range of resources and learning tools to help healthcare profession lead effective improvement efforts and enhance patient care outcomes.
With the theme “Engage. Energize. Evolve.”, the program focused on showcasing the best of international and regional thinking and practice in quality and safety in healthcare. The presentations explored the opportunities to achieve sustainable change and clinical excellence while reducing costs and looking for new approaches to problem solving.
Nine site visits to Singapore Healthcare institutions, such as Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Jurong Health, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, National Healthcare Group Pharmacy, Institute of Mental Health, were organized for the Day 1 pre-conference.
The Day 2 and 3 conference proper featured keynote speakers from the United States, United Kingdom and Asia Pacific countries and shared the rich experience of their healthcare teams.

Organizations which provide services and products concerned with improving quality of healthcare, including consultation services, publication services, digital products, and educational services participated in the exhibition.
