Successful Medical Mission in Leyte

Makati Medical Center’s team of doctors and nurses provide free medical services in Leyte.

More than 1,600 indigent residents of Javier, Leyte were provided with the free medical, surgical and dental services conducted by Makati Medical Center Foundation headed by its president, Victor L. Gisbert, MD, on February 1 to 2, 2019.

The team of volunteer doctors, surgeons, nurses and dentists services ranging from medical consultations, outpatient surgeries, dental check-ups, tooth extractions, and eye examinations to provision of prescription medicine to the residents of the province.

All the nurses who volunteered played a significant role in providing essential care within the community of Leyte. Under the leadership and support of Christine A. Donnelly, EDL, MSN, MA, RN, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President of Nursing & Patient Care Services Division (NPCSD), the nurses had the opportunity to collaborate with physicians in providing medical care and health education in the local community where access to healthcare is limited.

As a commitment of MakatiMed to saving lives while providing premium and advance healthcare support to the people in need, the annual major medical-surgical and dental mission is the first of many planned for 2019.
