The Dr. Constantino P. Manahan (CPM) Complex is the Delivery Room Complex of Makati Medical Center. It is located at the 5th Floor of Tower 2. This state-of-the-art facility is manned by highly supervised Obstetrics House Staff, expertly-trained Nurses, and Operating Room (OR) Technicians. Its goal is to provide expert care for the safe labor and delivery of patients and their newborns. Beyond safety, the facility is known to meet the satisfaction levels expected by local and international patients, some patients with a wide range of challenging obstetric and gynecologic concerns.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic that started in 2020, the facility is divided into two (2) wings to prevent the transmission of the virus and to continue providing safe, quality obstetric and gynecologic care:
• The Green Zone is where patients with negative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test are admitted. It is equipped with three (3) triage beds, three (3) labor ward beds. Patients are all monitored by the central monitors in two (2) nurse stations, one (1) in the labor room area and one (1) in the main Delivery Room (DR) complex station. While giving the mothers the privacy during labor, this set up makes sure that all events between the expectant moms and babies are known to the house staff on duty. These central stations can monitor the fetal heart rates and the uterine contraction patterns of all the patients in the area.
There are high-risk rooms for pregnant mothers with medical complications that need close monitoring. The patients here are also observed through the central fetal heart rate monitoring stations. Surgical procedures are performed at the OR Suites. Minimally-invasive or laparoscopic surgeries are also done in these suites. There are also equipment and supplies dedicated for this area.
• The Red Zone is for patients with no RT-PCR test results are brought for examination, labor, and delivery. Deliveries and gynecological procedures for COVID-19 positive patients are done in negative pressure OR / Delivery Suites inside this zone.
There are two (2) birthing suites, one (1) equipped with a water birth tub in this zone. They are currently used as a post-anesthesia care unit in the Red Zone but are available upon request for birthing use.
