The management and union of Makati Medical Center signed a new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) covering March 1, 2017 to February 28, 2022.
The CBA was signed on May 19 in a simple ceremony at Jade Garden Restaurant in Glorietta 2. In attendance were MakatiMed executives led by Rosalie R. Montenegro, President & CEO, and Johnny B. Sinon, MD, Medical Director.
The MakatiMed management negotiating panel Chairman was Alipio S. Abad, Jr., MD, MakatiMed’s Advisory Committee Member. The MAMECEA-AFW (Makati Medical Center Employee Association-Alliance of Filipino Workers) negotiating panel Chairman was Roel Pahati, MAMECEA-AFW’s Secretary General.
MAMECEA forms part of AFW, the national organization of hospital employees. The MAMECEA-AFW is the recognized bargaining agent of the rank-and-file employees of MakatiMed.
Ms. Montenegro congratulated the MAMECEA-AFW for the satisfactory conclusion of the negotiations for the five-year CBA. “We believe in discussion and collaboration, and I would like to thank the Union for their fairmindedness,” she said at the signing.
MAMECEA President Willy Pulia lauded Ms. Montenegro for being “pro-people”.
