The Metro Pacific Investment Corporation (MPIC) Fall, Pain, and Pressure Ulcer (FPP) Educational Program is attended by nursing leaders from the MPIC Group of Hospitals.
The Metro Pacific Investment Corporation (MPIC) Fall, Pain, and Pressure Ulcer (FPP) Educational Program kicked off on June 11, attended by nursing leaders from the MPIC Group of Hospitals.
Organized by MakatiMed’s Nursing and Patient Care Services Division, this event marks the third installment of the MPIC Nursing Leaders’ conferences. The first was held last Sept. 14, 2015 with the theme, “Exceeding Hospital Excellence through MPIC Alliance. The second was held last May 18, 2016 with the theme, “Strengthening MPIC Collaboration through Standardization of Policies and Procedures,” wherein the MPIC Nursing Leaders reviewed and finalized the FPP standards benchmarked from MakatiMed Nursing policies.
Healthcare organizations spend time and energy keeping hospital patients comfortable and safe from untoward events. In the practice of nursing, patient falls and pressure ulcers (also known as bedsores) are considered “never events”, or healthcare issues that should never occur.
The one-day program, with the goal of introducing and implementing the policies and procedures of the FPP Nursing-sensitive clinical indicators, was held at the 8th Floor, Tower 2 Auditorium.
“This program confirms that we already achieved the goal of strong collaboration starting with the September 2015 gathering,” Alexander Gervacio M. Sangoyo, RN, MAN, MakatiMed Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Units Clinical Department Manager, said in his welcoming remarks.
“We, as one MPIC Group, have to set the standards across the country,” says Nursing and Patient Care Services Division Head Christine A. Donnelly, RN, MSN, MA.
Christine A. Donnelly, RN, MSN, MA, Nursing and Patient Care Services Division Head in her inspirational message, said, “FPP is ownership of Nursing. We, as one MPIC Group, have to set the standards across the country. This is the opportunity for us to share and think about the accomplishments of our hospitals.”
Ms. Donnelly shared her experiences during the question and answer portion where attendees expressed gratitude for the said partnership.
Augusto P. Palisoc, Jr., President and Chief Executive Officer of Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings Inc., in his message through Ms. Donnelly, said, “Thanks for your efforts in the nursing collaboration and initiative of standardizing nursing policies among our Metro Pacific Hospital Group.”
There were six sessions held during the program: “Wound Assessment” by Roland Joseph R. Toledo, RM, RN, ET, MakatiMed Nurse Educator; “Wound Management and Care” by Ryan Hitalla, RN, MAN, ET, Certified Enterostomal Therapist; “Fundamental Concepts in Pain” by Joshua Jaime P. Nario, RN, MakatiMed Nursing Quality and Innovations Program Manager; “Pain Management and Care” by Jo-Anne Cabbab, RN, MMC Pain Management Leader; “Application of MMC Policies and Standards for Pain” by Ritchelle M. Galang, RN, MakatiMed Nursing Quality Specialist; and “Fall Prevention and Management” by Daryl Jeremiah R. Gaba, RN, MAN, MakatiMed Cardiac and Neuro Services Senior Clinical Department Manager, and Rommel E. Alegre, RN, MAN, MakatiMed General Medicine Services 2 Clinical Department Manager.
Adrian S. Brillantes, Jr., RN, MakatiMed Nurse Educator, and Erika B. Macairan, RN, MakatiMed Telemetry Nurse Manager, served as program moderators.
In attendance were 88 nursing leaders from seven healthcare institutions under the MPIC Group of Hospitals: Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Central Luzon Doctors’ Hospital, De Los Santos Medical Center, Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Center (Riverside), Makati Medical Center and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
