In 2007, the Makati Medical Center established its Cancer Center as one of its Centers of Excellence, aiming to integrate all cancer-related treatments within the hospital. Originally, it started as an outpatient facility located on the 7th floor of Tower 1, featuring one cubicle for bone marrow biopsies and seven individual patient cubicles for administering intravenous infusions of oncologic drugs to cancer patients. On April 4, 2011, the new MakatiMed Cancer Center was inaugurated to provide a better and more comprehensive cancer treatment facility for the country and neighboring regions. Our skilled physicians embrace a multidisciplinary treatment approach for various types of cancer, supported by state-of-the-art equipment to deliver holistic cancer care. Our team dedicates time to discuss personalized and evidence-based treatment plans with patients and their families. 14 years later, the Cancer Institute was officially inaugurated in April 2025, representing an important milestone in the advancement of cancer treatment. Healthcare leaders, medical experts, patients, and activists gathered to commemorate the grand opening of a cutting-edge center dedicated to cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, research, patient navigation, and supportive care. The Cancer Institute seeks to set new standards in oncology and become a beacon of hope for cancer patients and their families by utilizing progressive technology, multidisciplinary teams, and a strong dedication to patient-centered services.
