Makati Medical Center officially begins the preparations for the 2017 Joint Commission International (JCI) Triennial Survey with a series of JCI 5th edition Refresher Programs conducted by the Hospital Accreditation Division (HAD).

Four sessions of the JCI 5th edition Refresher Programs, held from July 15 to August 9, focused on frequently asked questions, compliance tips, challenging standards and measurable elements. JCI Champions appointed by their Division Head or Clinical Department Chairpersons attended the sessions to equip them in their task of assisting their division to comply with accreditation standards, safety, and quality policies.

Each session, consisting of lectures, “Pop Quizzes”, “Spot It” Workshops and Sample Case Video Workshops, was designed to tackle the applicable standards for the attendees. A total of 154 participants attended the JCI 5th edition Refresher Programs. Sessions for the JCI Champions of the Corporate Group (July 15), Facilities Management & Engineering Division (FMED) and SODEXO Group (July 29) and Professional Services Group (August 9) were held at the 8th Floor Tower 2 MakatiMed Auditorium. The session for the Medical Group (August 5) was held in Taguig City.

The programs were attended by Christine A. Donnelly, RN, MSN, MA, Nursing and Patient Care Services Division Head; Engr. Lawrence F. Harder, FMED Division Head; Hazel Faye R. Docuyanan, RPh, MS, Department Head for Pharmacy Services; and Johnny B. Sinon, MD, Medical Director.

MakatiMed received JCI accreditation in 2011 and 2014, a confirmation of MakatiMed’s compliance to global standards of safety and quality patient care. It will once again go through the rigorous reaccreditation process in 2017.

The excellence and success of MakatiMed in the upcoming survey will come from the collaborative effort and cooperation of everyone from both the Corporate and Medical Groups.
