September 7-8, 2011 (Singapore)—768 delegates from 25 countries attended the 10th Hospital Management Asia (HMA) Conference. The two-day event featured plenary and special interest sessions on hospital administration, operations efficiency, patient safety, quality management, cost management and human resource development.
During the convention, the Asian Hospital Management Awards (AHMA) honored Makati Medical Center (MMC) with “A Decade of Achievement” special award. This special recognition was given to the top three hospitals who won the most Asian Hospital Management Awards in the 10 years of HMA from an entry base of 324 hospitals. MMC is the only hospital in the Philippines given this recognition. Dr. Manuel O. Fernandez, Jr. received the “A Decade of Achievement” special award for MMC.
Every year, hospitals are encouraged to enter their successful project, programs and best practices. The awards categories are Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Project, Cost Reduction Project, Human Resource Development Project, Service Improvement for Internal Customers Project, Marketing, PR or Promotional Project, Patient Safety Project, Clinical Service Improvement Project, Operational Customer Service Project and Bio Medical Equipment/Facilities Improvement Project. Among the entries submitted by MMC over the past decade, it has accumulated 4 Winners and 9 Excellence Awards.
