Pacemaker

A medical device that uses electrical impulsesto regulate the heartbeat and maintain normal heart rate.

Paget's Disease

Chronic bone condition among older adults, in which bones are abnormal, enlarged, and prone to fractures.

Parkinson's Disease

(PD) Degenerative central nervous system disorder characterized by impaired motor skills, cognitive processes, and other functions. Symptoms include tremors, rigidity, bradykinesia, postural instability, autonomic dysfunction and sensory and sleep difficulties.

Patent Foramen Ovale

Defect in the wall between the two upper chambers of the heart, characterized by incomplete closure of valve. This could result in backflow of blood and blood debris, which could lodge in the brain, heart, eyes, or kidneys.

PDA

(Patent Ductus Arteriosus) A congenital disorder of the heart in which the baby's ductus arteriosus fails to close after birth. Symptoms include difficulty breathing and poor weight gain.

Periodontics

Dental specialty on the supporting structures of the teeth such as the gums and jaw bone.

Peripheral Neuropathies

Damage to nerves of the peripheral nervous system, which may be caused by nerve dieseas or other side effects. It is characterized by weakness, autonomic and sensory changes, loss of muscle bulk, and loss of sensory feelings such as pain.

Peritoneal Dialysis

(PD) Treatment for severe chronic kidney disease, in which the patient's peritoneum is used to filter and exchange fluids and blood.

Pheochromocytoma

(PCC) Anadrenal gland tumor that causes the gland to secrete excessive hormones such as adrenaline.

Photomedicine

Study of light as it relates to various fields of medicine such as cardiology, dermatology, surgery, interventional radiology, and oncology.
