Barrett's Esophagus
An abnormal change in the esophagus as a result of gastroesophageal reflux.
Behcet's Syndrome
A rare and systemic form of inflammation of the blood vessels, usually accompanied by mucous membrane ulceration and ocular involvement. It can be caused by complicated vascular aneurysm rupture or severe neurological complications.
Bipolar Disorder
(Manic Depressive Disorder or Manic Depression)A psychiatric condition marked by episodes of abnormally elevated mood, cognition, or energy levels (called mania) usually alternating with depressive episodes.
BOOP
(Bronchiolitis Obliterans with Organizing Pneumonia or Cryptogenic Organizing Pneumonia (COP))A rare condition in which tiny airways in the lungs called bronchioles and small air-exchange sacs called alveoli become inflamed and plugged with connective tissue.
Bronchiectasis
An obstructive lung disease in which one or more bronchi or bronchioles become inflamed, dilated and easily collapsible.
Buerger's Disease
A painful disorder affecting the hands and feet, most commonly found in younger adult males. Symptoms include enlarged, red, tender cord-like veins; numbness in the limbs; decaying of fingers and toes; and discoloration. It is associated with excessive smoking.
Bulimia Nervosa
(Binge-eating Disorder)An eating illness characterized by recurrent episodes of eating followed by vomiting or other types of purging such as consumption of laxatives or diuretics.
