Acute Stroke Unit

Dealing with the leading cause of death worldwide

Stroke is the second leading cause of death worldwide, and is one of the most-treated neurological conditions at Makati Medical Center.

Our Acute Stroke Unit (ASU) treats simple and complex Cerebrovascular disorders through a multidisciplinary approach combining emergency medicine, neurology, neurosurgery, interventional neuroradiology, stereotactic radiology, neuro-intensive care, neuro-anesthesiology, and rehabilitation medicine.

The unit is an intensive care facility with two beds that can be expanded as the need arises. Conditions we diagnose and manage include:
  • Ischemic stroke
  • Cerebral (brain) hemorrhage
  • Aneurysms/Subarachnoid hemorrhage
  • Carotid artery/Vertebral (spinal) conditions
  • Vascular malformations
