Liposuction

 Length of the Procedure:
1 to 2 hours per area
Type of Anesthesia: General or Local Anesthesia
Recovery: Back to work: 2 to 3 days
Strenuous Activities: 2 to 4 weeks
Laboratory Requests:
Chest X-ray, Complete Blood Count, Bleeding time, Clotting time (Pro time)
Pre-OP Procedures: No Alcohol, Vitamin E, Aspirin (and other blood thinners), Herbal drugs & teas.
Post-OP Procedures: Suture removal 4 to 5 days; Use of Girdle for 4 weeks
 
What is Liposuction?
  • Liposuction, known as liposculpture, is a procedure to remove unwanted fat from specific areas, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, upper arms, chin, cheeks and neck. 
Who are best candidates for Liposuction?
  • Men and women with near ideal body weight but with pockets of excess fat in certain areas 
What to expect?                                                    
  •  Discomfort
  •  Swelling (70%- 4weeks; 30% - 3 to 4 months)
  • Bruising
What are the risks?
  • Any surgical procedure carries certain risks and possible complications. Your surgeon will discuss these risks with you during your consultation. Some of the potential complications are:
    • Fat embolism
    • Irregularities, dimples, puckers and divots
    • Ecchymoses
    • Burning and tingling sensation
    • Seroma
    • Numbness
    • Bleeding
    • Infection
