  • Anxiety Disorders: Panic disorders, social phobia and other phobias, general anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), drug-induced anxiety disorder, and anxiety disorders due to medical conditions
  • Cognitive and Memory Disorders: Delirium, Dementia, Aphasia, and AIDS Dementia complex. More comprehensive treatments are available at our Memory Plus Clinic and Optimal Aging Center.
  • Eating and Sleep Disorders: Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. Our Weight Wellness Center can conduct weight programs and consultation.
  • Mood Disorders: Major depressive disorder, chronic depression (dysthymia), bipolar mood disorder, drug-induced psychotic disorder due to medical conditions
  • Psychotic Disorders: Schizophrenia, brief psychotic reaction, delusional disorder, drug-induced psychotic disorder, and psychotic disorder due to medical conditions
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD): Primary diagnosis of OCD, hair-pulling, compulsive shopping, and skin-picking
  • Sleep Disorders: Nightmares, sleep terror, sleep walking and insomnia, either primary or related to anxiety, depression, or psychosis. Our Sleep Disorders Laboratory can help diagnose specific sleeping disorders.
  • Geriatric Psychiatry: For patients 55 years and older with anxiety, depression, Dementia and other psychiatric disorders complicated by the biological and psychological effects of aging. More comprehensive and holistic treatments for conditions related to aging are available at our Optimal Aging Center.
     
  • Neuropsychiatry: Behavioral complications of trauma, stroke, or mental retardation
  • Women’s Wellness: Female-specific psychiatric disorders including post-partum depression, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), menopause, infertility, and pregnancy issues
  • Substance and Non-substance Addiction: Substance addictions such as to alcohol, methamphetamines, cannabinoids, opiates, and behavioral addictions like gambling, Internet, and sex, among others
  • Psychotherapy: Non-medical treatment of psychiatric disorders, which may or may not be used in conjunction with medications. Persons with relationship difficulties, stress and other personal issues may undergo psychotherapy to help them through their process of self-awareness.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): psychotherapy using behavioral modification and correction of cognitive distortions to treat mental disorders. It is effective for depression, OCD, personality disorders, and somatoformdisorders.
  • Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry: Psychiatric or behavioral symptoms resulting from or coexisting with serious medical illness or injury such as HIV, cancer, heart disease, stroke, or chronic pain. Our treatments complement the overall management from our Heart Station, Cancer Center, or Pain Control Clinic.
