The Clemenia Twins
The separation of the Clemenia twins, conjoined at the hip in a rare congenital anomaly known as Tetrapus Ischiopagus.
The Makati Med team took nine months of extensive preparation, planning and mock exercises before the actual 17-hour operation took place. Each member’s role during the operation was planned carefully, down to the timing—leading to the country’s first successful separation of Tetrapus Ischiopagus.
Telemedicine in the Philippines
In 1880, the telephone was first used by its inventor Alexander Graham Bell to call his assistants for help with a medical problem caused by an accident in his laboratory.
At Makati Med, we carry on this tradition of helping each other. This is what telemedicine is all about.
Through the years, we have skillfully made use of evolving teleconferencing systems to consult with colleagues at the prestigious Stanford University Medical Center, and more recently, the University of California San Francisco Medical Center. We do this to share medical knowledge across continents—and use this to deliver exceptional care to you, our patients.
