How to Pay

Thank you for being a part of our tradition of good medicine. We hope your stay at the Makati Medical Center has been a pleasant healing experience. Here, we would like to walk you through our billing procedures:

  1. When you are admitted, you are asked to pay 30% of your room charges.
  2. When your attending physician decides that your inpatient treatment is complete, he or she gives you a written Discharge Notice.
  3. He or she also sends a clearance to the Billing Department.
  4. The Billing Department prepares your bill.
  5. Once discharge orders are secured, your Nurse-On-Duty will issue to you a Discharge Notice Slip with an itemized Statement of Account. Please check this carefully before paying at the Cashier. If you have any concerns about your bill, please inform your Nurse-On-Duty about these.
  6. Settle your bills only at the Cashier’s Office, which is at the ground floor of the main building. You can also verify your bill at the same place.
  7. You can settle your bills in cash, check or credit card.
  8. Check out time and charges:
    • Discharge time of patients of Makati Med-accredited companies & HMOs is 9am.
    • There is no additional charge if you leave before 9am.
    • If your condition only requires you to be hospitalized for half a day, you are discharged before 12noon of the same day.
    • Discharge time of private patients is 11am.
    • Please realize that there are other patients that are waiting for your room, so it is best if you can leave by discharge time. If, for whatever reason you need to extend your stay, additional charges will be added to your bill. If you stay for a few hours until 4pm, half day will be charged to you. If you stay after 4pm, a one-day charge will be added to your bill.
  9. Bills incurred after discharge time is your personal obligation and cannot be charged to your Philhealth, Medicare or medical insurance.
  10. Patients who cannot afford to pay their bills are referred to the Social Services Office located at the ground floor of the Main building.
  11. Once you have settled your bills, you will be issued a gate pass.
  12. Surrender this pass to the guard at the main lobby, who will check your personal belongings and assist you as you leave Makati Med.

To use your Insurance/ HMOs

If you plan to pay your hospital bills through the use of your compensation plan, HMO or health insurance, please verify, upon admission, if your insurance company, HMO or company is accredited with the Makati Medical Center.

If Makati Medical Center has an established agreement with your medical insurer, then the payment terms will be determined by that agreement.

Secure from your insurance company, HMO or a Letter of Authorization or Letter of Guarantee issued in favor of the Makati Medical Center. This letter should detail the terms and conditions of coverage. You will also have to acknowledge the hospital’s Billing Statement and the Doctor’s Professional Fee.

If MMC does not have an agreement with your insurer / HMO, you will be asked to pay for treatment first and then submit a claim to the patient’s insurer for reimbursement.

NOTE for Aesthetic Center patients: Under normal circumstances, private insurance companies DO NOT cover cosmetic surgery or medical procedures deemed ‘elective’, especially if the patient is traveling overseas for treatment.
