Makati Medical Center’s Pediatrics Department is committed to providing exceptional health care to children, from birth through 18 years of age, paying particular attention to each child’s growth, development and preventive care.

At Pediatrics, we diagnose your child’s health problems then determine the appropriate specialty clinic for your care needs, or coordinate your care from multiple sub-specialties.

Our department began operating 30 years ago with less than 10 pediatric consultants headed by our founder, Dr. Natividad Alimurung. Through the years, our roster of pediatricians has grown to more than 45 active and associate active members, and we have made waves in the practice of pediatrics in the country.

In 1992, we made history through the successful separation of the Siamese twins Peter and Paul Clemenia. With the able stewardship of Makati Med’s medical director, Dr. Raul G. Fores and the Pediatrics department vice-chairman Dr. Luis M. Rivera, a team of highly skilled specialists from the various departments successfully separated the twins. The twins have since led normal, healthy lives since their critical operation.

We have also worked hand-in-hand with the Emergency Department to provide ambulatory care to pediatric patients. To ensure that we are able to provide emergency health care to children, we assign a pediatric to the Emergency Department at all times.

Our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), opened in 1996, is the best in the country. PICU has successfully treated many patients, some flown in from far as Micronesia.

Together with our Cardiology department, we have been performing pediatric cardiac surgeries since 1999.

In line with out legacy of being a “hospital with a heart,” we have recently beefed-up our outpatient services. Apart from providing ambulatory care and immunization programs, our outpatient service also holds subspecialty clinics in Pediatric Cardiology, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology, Pediatric Pulmonology, and Pediatric Nephrology.
